Contract Descriptions
Access to the Collections is through contractual agreements between school districts and the Siskiyou County Office of Education. Districts sign a contract and pay fees to SCOE so that staff may access resource items from the designated collections.
AV Contracts
The AV Contract allows access to the collection of 16mm films, video tapes, laserdiscs, CD-ROM's, short-term equipment loans, satellite downlinking. Currently the collection includes over 9,000 titles, valued at just over $3,000,000.
Contracting districts also have access to California Streaming, a comprehensive collection of video, still images, print, Web links, audio files, enhanced podcasts, and video podcasts; all aligned to and searchable by California Content Standards.
Library Contracts
Satellite Library Contract: Schools opting for this contract are agreeing to provide space, shelving and library furniture, as well as staffing in order for our office to set up a library at their site. Schools can select as many books from our collection as their shelves will hold, and can keep those books for as long as they continue a contract with us. They can come and select more books at any time. Teachers at Satellite Library schools also have access to the nonprint collection known as the "Lending Library".
Lending Library Contracts
This contract is automatically included within the Satellite Library and the Contract Library contracts, however, schools which already have established libraries can choose to contract with us for access just to this collection of nonprint materials such as games, kits, study prints, CD-ROMS, models, maps, microscopes, puppets, bigbooks, audio books, etc.
Special Collections
SEAMS Contract: The materials purchased through the SEAMS project have been moved into the library in order to take advantage of our automated circulation system. Schools which hold current Library and/or Lending Library contracts are not charged any additional fees for access to this collection.
Eisenhower Arts Collection: The materials (videos, music instruments, books, etc.) in this collection were originally purchased and managed by the College of the Siskiyous as the lead in a consortium of schools wanting to provide materials in the arts. This collection is now managed by the Siskiyou County Office of Education IMC. Access to this collection is included in the Lending Library Contract.
