The Special Schools and Services Department provides special education services to children from birth to 22 years of age throughout Siskiyou County.  We also oversee the Siskiyou Early Head Start and the SCOE State Preschool that provides services to income eligible families.  Siskiyou Early Head Start serves pregnant mothers and infants to three year olds.  The SCOE State Preschool provides services to three to five year olds. The J. Everett Barr School is also a part of our department and through this program we provide educational services to incarcerated youth.

Our goal is to provide a free and appropriate education to all our children in the least restrictive environments.  We endeavor to support and educate children in partnership with general education utilizing collaboration and coordination of services.
