ROP Natural Resources Students Receive Certificate of Appreciation
In the Fall of 2005, the ROP Natural Resources class worked as team members in the annual Salmon Survey in partnership with the United States Forest Service (USFS). The students, as part of USFS teams, were assigned to area rivers one day a week to count salmon and their spawning beds. According to Forest Service officals, without the volunteers, like our students, who work as part of the USFS teams, the survey would be impossible to complete. Just prior to the holiday break in December, DHS students who participated were thanked formally by the Forest Service.

Yreka Host Lions awarded a $400 scholarship, Yreka Elks awarded a $400 scholarship, and the Ford Foundation awarded a $4,000 scholarship to three hard working graduates. The Discovery High School Student Body and Staff would like to express heartfelt thanks to these organizations for making DHS graduates a priority in the scholarship considerations. Thanks!
